This beautifully framed piece features an original piece of watercolor artwork glass-framed in an attractive two inch wide black resin frame with a double mat. The outer dimensions of the framed piece are approximately 17” wide x 24.5” high, although the exact size will vary according to the size of the original piece of art.

At the core of the framed piece is the actual piece of original artwork as painted by the artist on textured 100% rag, water-marked watercolor paper. In many cases the original artwork has handwritten notes in pencil from the artist (be sure to “See the actual artwork without the frame” elsewhere in this website). Simply put, this is beautiful, one-of-a-kind artwork.

The outer mat is a rich textured black acid-free mat with a decorative inset white v-groove, while the inner mat is a complimentary colored acid-free mat reflecting one of the team’s primary colors. The website image of this framed piece shows the mat color that we suggest (Hunter Green), but since each piece is custom framed, we are happy to use whatever color mat you wish (depending on availability) – our standard mat colors are:

Light Blue / Dark Blue / Brown / Maroon (close to brown) / White / Silver / Gold / Yellow (bright yellow) / Green (dark green) / Orange / Purple / Red (bright red, somewhat close to PMS 186)

Beneath the artwork is a silver plate with black text describing the original artwork. The text for this piece will read:

This original, one-of-a-kind watercolor painting of the 1998-99 Dallas Stars jersey is the original artwork that was used in the creation of this Dallas Stars uniform evolution print and tens of thousands of other Dallas Stars products that have been sold across North America. This original piece of art was painted by artist Nola McConnan for Maple Leaf Productions Ltd. 1998-99 was a Stanley Cup winning season for the Dallas Stars.

Beneath the silver plate is a 3” x 9” reproduction of a well known, best-selling print that celebrates the history of the team. The print beautifully illustrates the chronological evolution of the team’s uniform and shows you how the original art was used in the creation of this print. If you look closely, you will see that the print features the actual artwork being offered for sale. The 3” x 9” print looks like this:

The piece is framed with an extremely high quality framing glass. We have used this glass style for many years with excellent results. History

After coming up short in the Western Conference Finals in 1998 the Stars made surprise off-season addition by signing free agent sniper Brett Hull.  Now with Hull on board the Stars believed they put together a winning combination that could take them all the way to the Stanely Cup finals.Head coach Ken Hitchcock employed a defence-first style of play that made his defence invincible and his goaltending unbeatable. Ed Belfour, who was a free agent acquisition in the summer of 1997, had a spectacular yearin net for Dallas posting a 35-15-9 record with a microscopic 1.99 goals-against-average. At the end of the season the Stars had allowed the fewest goals against, 168.In the offseason the NHL realigned its divisions and the Stars now found themselves as a member of the Pacific Division. But the moved seemed to have no affect on the club as the Stars rolled to their third straight division crown and their second consecutive Presidents Trophy with a 51-19-12 record.Entering the playoffs with their minds set on the Stanley Cup or nothing the Stars swept the Edmonton Oilers in 4 straight. However, it was not as easy as it sounds;  all 4 games were decided by 1 goal including the series clincher on Joe Nieuwendyk's goal in the 3rd overtime period. In the 2nd round the Stars won the first 2 games at home then St. Louis bounced back to take the next to on home ice. Fortunately for the Stars they had the next two-game winning streak and eliminated the Blues in 6 games. In the Conference Finals for the 2nd straight year the Stars were matched up against the Colorado Avalanche. Both teams yielded nothing as the series was tied at 2 after 4 games. However, the Stars found themselves facing elimination as the Avalanche erupted for 7 goals, winning Game 5 7-5 in Dallas. Needing a big road win the Stars forced a 7th game with a dominating 4-1 victory in Game 6. The back home for Game 7, the Stars put away the Avalanche with another 4-1 victory. The Stanley Cup Finals featured an epic goaltending matchup: Ed Belfour vs Domink Hasek. The Stars and Buffalo Sabres exchanged blows through 4 games, as the series was tied 2-2 heading into Game 5.  Then Ed Belfour put forth his best effort in the postseason to take Game 5 at home 2-0. With the cup 1 win away the Stars and Sabres battled deep into overtime tied at 1, in Buffalo. Then at 14:51 of the third overtime period Brett Hull scored a goal, which was disputed because he had his foot in the crease.  The goal stood up and the Dallas Stars had their first Stanley Cup in franchise history. With a NHL record 6 game winning goals Joe Nieuwendyk was awarded the Conn Smythe for playoff MVP.In 1997-98 the Dallas Stars introduced a dark green and black jersey as their 3rd or alternate jersey. The jersey became so popular the Stars eventually adopted it as their regular road jersey. This jersey has an intricate design as the star pattern is built right into it. The pattern is outlined by gold and white trim and comes about the way down the front of the jersey, the bottom of the jersey is black.  Once again, because the team was Stanley Cup finalist, a Stanley Cup patch appears on the right shoulder of the sweater.
