The Hamilton Tiger-Cats franchise was established in 1950 as an amalgamation of the Hamilton Tigers (who merged with the Hamilton Alerts) and the Hamilton Flying Wildcats. Hamilton football history dates to November 1869 and the founding of the Hamilton Football Club.
